Meet the Team
Background
Shaun is a Student Life professional focused on the intersections between practitioner, scholar, and administrator. He came to the University of Florida in 2017 to direct the newly established Office of Assessment and Research in its mission to champion a culture of evidence-based decision making for the Division of Student Life. Prior to this role Shaun served the University of West Florida for 12 years in a progression of experience including creation of the Outdoor Adventures program, supervision of all Recreational Sports programming, instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses, and management of assessment initiatives for Student Life. His leadership style and strategies for building assessment capacity draw from his bachelors in animal behavior, masters in experiential education, and doctorate in physical education and health. Outside of work Shaun enjoys outdoor recreation, music, movies, games, woodworking, teaching dad jokes to his daughter, and wondering where the time goes.

Background
Jerri is a student life practitioner who draws from over six years of higher education assessment experience, particularly through her work in career services, academic affairs, and now, Student Life Assessment and Research. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (major in Management), master’s in Student Personnel in Higher Education, and is currently in pursuit of a second master’s degree in Research and Evaluation Methodology. Over the years, she has worked on career outcomes data through UF’s centralized career center, and on pharmacy education data through UF’s College of Pharmacy. In her current role, Jerri incorporates into her everyday work her enthusiasm for assessment, passion for learning, and commitment to building assessment capacity within the Division of Student Life. Outside of work, Jerri enjoys a good stadium (or interval training) workout, spending quality time with family and friends, frequenting amusement parks, and taking long naps!

Background
Dishank is the latest addition to the Assessment and Research Department as a Data Analyst Intern. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Computer Science at UF. He has an industry experience of two years as a Team Lead and Software Engineer, leading the development of websites and mobile apps, providing solutions to complex database and system problems, and mentoring team members. When not working, Dishank enjoys playing table tennis, reading manga, music and travelling with friends.

Background
Martha has worked in the Division of Student Life (DSL) since 2012. Martha worked as an Administrative Assistant at Student Legal Services (SLS), and then joined the Student Life Assessment and Research team in June of 2018. In her work at Assessment and Research, she manages the fiscal and HR operations, project management, and collaborates with OIPR and DSL departments for reports and rankings information. She also co-directs and facilitates Comprehensive Department Reviews utilizing CAS standards. Martha received her bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration. Outside of work Martha enjoys spending time with her daughter, exercising, reading, photography and playing on the water.

ELLU (QICHEN) LI
Data Management Analyst II

Background
Ellu joined UF’s Student Life Office of Assessment and Research as Data Management Analyst in 2018. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Logistics Engineering and master’s in Information System and Operational Management. In her current role at Assessment and Research, she is building the data bank for the departments within the Division of Student Life, and conducting data cleaning, mining and analysis for departments. Outside of work Ellu enjoys playing pool, music, movies, traveling with friend and family, exploring all kinds of new food.

Carla Lissa Nelson

Background
Carla is a Medical Doctor from Haiti with a high interest in public health, health system strengthening, and policy-making. Since she aims to work at a global scale, gaining the appertaining knowledge, in her opinion, required a robust foundation in sustainability. Hence, Carla is currently a student in the Master of Sustainable Development Practice program here at the University and became the Graduate Assistant for the Assessment and Research Department in August of 2022. As a Haitian national, Carla is fluent in both French and Haitian Creole. The knowledge of English and Spanish she acquired during her primary and secondary school years have made her particularly fond of learning new languages and shaped her interest in cultures around the world.
